Hot weather cometh and goeth

Yesterday our Hi temperature was 107; the day before 104; and the day before that 102. It almost never even gets into the 90's here, so those were significant numbers! We were expecting more of the same today, but this morning I'm actually looking for a light jacket while Marv and I work outside. It's only mid 60's right now and there's a cool breeze. But the day's not over yet, so I won't hold my breath.

I've started yet another online class. This one is at Joggles.com and is titled "Tyvek Explorations for the Creative Stitcher" and is given by Susan Brubaker Knapp. It looks like it's going to be waaaay too much fun already. I started some of the exercises in the first lesson. We were to paint on the Tyvek and then try different methods of heating it. Just passing the hot iron over it; putting the hot iron down on it; holding the iron down for a long while vs holding it down for a short while. I don't have my fabric acrylics yet so I painted with my regular craft acrylics and then sprayed with some golden mist. I painted both sides of the sheet of Tyvek with red and yellow, mixing the colors on one side and sort of striping them on the other. Then I cut some 2 or 3 in square pieces off and tried heating them in different fashions. Then I stamped with some Adirondack ink on one side and tried different heating methods with each of two pieces I cut off. I still need to read the rest of the lesson again to see what other ideas she has for playing with this piece of Tyvek.
